ABSTRACT
Thermal Protection System (TPS) repair material for Space Vehicles will be discussed and its testing, including the use of the "Vomit Comet" vehicle. Flight safety TPS procedures and changes on the various space vehicles will be reviewed. Pictures of the Shuttle assembled and launched plus close-up photos of its landing and the Orbiter will be provided. Current rocket (Delta and Atlas) insulation will also be discussed.

Pamela Kay Strong, a leading expert and pioneer in advanced nonmetallic and composite materials processes, has a long history of resolving problems to improve rockets, aircraft, aerospace vehicles. Throughout her 31-year career, Pam has been a leader of the revolution to convert from metallic to non metallic composite parts in the aerospace industry to facilitate design improvement and weight savings. Pam's achievements are internationally reconized as evidenced by her seven Fellowships (SAMPE, SAE, SWE, AIC, RAIC, Boeing, ULA), along with other industry awards (SWE Achievement Award, SAE Women Leadership Award, two Boeing Professional Excellence Awards, Boeing Women's Engineering-Amelia Earhart Society's Women Achievement Award and General Electric Manufacturing Technical Excellence Award).
