Polyimide Processing
by Daniel Han, Cytec Engineered Materials

TOPIC:

Polymer matrix composites are going into demanding military and commercial applications that require the highest possible use temperatures. Composites made from Phenylethynyl Phthalic Anhydride (PEPA) end-capped resins represent a thermally stable polyimide material with exceptionally high use temperature capability available. Traditionally, these systems have been difficult to process into void free parts. This presentation discusses some of the processing issues, specifically effects fiber-sizing and cure-cycle, and methods developed to produce void-free laminates.

SPEAKER:

Daniel Han graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in the field of chemical engineering. He has worked at Cytec Engineered Materials as a research engineer since December of 2002. His research focuses primarily on polyimide processing and particle toughening of epoxy matrix composites.
