ABSTRACT
Since 2001, M4 Engineering and M4 Wind Services have been offering engineering, manufacturing, monitoring, data analysis, quality control, and maintenance services to the wind industry. Our presentation this month will highlight the World and US Wind Energy Market, US Job Outlook, the major components of a wind turbine, equipment trends and technology and the growing pains encountered with the rapid growing wind energy market.
BIO
Robert Schmidt graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy with a BS degree in Marine
Engineering – ship design and construction, electrical and propulsion systems, etc. While in the service, he
served as an Operations Officer on a buoy tender in Alaska and Commanding Officer of a patrol boat in
Hawaii. After leaving the service, he followed a diverse career path starting as Transportation Systems
Manager with Lockheed on the Advanced Systems Rocket Motor Project, moving to flexible/elastomeric
industrial heaters with Chromolax and Contherm, then years back in aerospace working in engineered
components and systems sales management of metallic, elastomeric and fiber/composite materials and
products. He’s currently Managing Director of M4 Wind Services, headquartered in Long Beach, CA. M4WS
provides engineering, quality control and repair support services to the wind energy industry and has a sister
division that designs, manufactures and tests large composite wind turbine blades.
